Physical environment affects people in various ways, for example I need sunlight to live, it regulate my internal environment in the body, it helps me produce vitamin D in my skin and too much of it can burn my skin, or even result to development of skin cancer, bad air quality can cause respiratory problems and water that has been polluted can make me sick. There are various theories that scrounge from several disciplines to theorize about the relations between stimuli and performance. Arousal theories state that an inverted-U correlation exists between arousal and performance meaning that performance increases with increase in arousal, but only up to a certain point. Once stimulation reaches extreme levels, in any given chore, performance begins to lessen. I think this theory makes most sense because it explains that transitional levels of arousal are optimal for physiological response, noise level, and neurological stimulation. Also, cultures are likely to develop in environments with only transitional challenges, which mean that the above mentioned inverted-U correlation exists on cultural level individual, as well as corporate level. The literature on human behavior in relation to its environment surroundings has expanded at an incredible rate. The rapid expansion of environmental psychology can be determined by the diversity and complete quantity of publications that appeared over the past 50 year’s period. Environmental psychologists have maintained a dynamic contact as indicated by published records of recent of environmental design research organizations. It important to use scientific research methodology to explore the person the points of departure are sets of, correspondingly, environments and behaviors. In an analogy to canonical relationship, groups of variables that explain environments and groups of variables that describe behavior experiences and are joined through setting variants that make up instances of environment behavior study.

We are going to be together forever! We can assume that everyone has heard this said before. Whether it was through the cute little Facebook post of a high school couple; from little kids on the playground; or said between two madly in love adults. Everyone has heard that phrase before. Although, is it realistic to say that someone will be there forever? By analyzing two readings about fairy-tale relationships we can take in their views on fairy tale-like relationships and better understand if the perfect fairytale relationship really exists. In the texts â€Å"Cinderella† by Anne Sexton and â€Å"To My Dear and Loving Husband† by Anne Bradstreet, the audience is presented with two views on a fairy-tale-like relationship. Life just does not stay the same; the people we encounter in life are ever-changing; and will not stick around forever. This view is an abrupt contrast to the views expressed by Anne Bradstreet of â€Å"To My Dear and Loving Husband.† Bradstreet is an interesting character. She lived through the 1600s, was married by age sixteen and was among the new settlers in Massachusetts. She lived in a time where a woman was expected to respect the man and be in a way submissive to the man. By analyzing Bradstreet’s writing we see areas where she seems to belittle her own self to her husband. She states â€Å"I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold. Thy love is such I can no way repay (Bradstreet 387).† We see how Bradstreet praises the love her husband gives her. However, we see that she is submissive in saying she can never live up to how much he gives her. She treats his love as if it were a pot of gold, there is nothing in her life as important as her husband and their love. In addition, Sexton introduces the central piece to her writing. This central piece of writing brings the reader through the eyes of the fairytale character Cinderella. Cinderella finds herself abandoned by her father for another family after the passing of her mother. The mother hopes to see her marriage live on through her daughter Cinderella. Mexicans did not acknowledge the Rio Grande as the border; they believed it was the Nueces River. The troops thought they were on Texan soil. Mexicans thought that the Americans had invaded their soil. So Mexican troops attacked The American troops, which gives birth to the widely conceived rumor of the Mexicans killed Americans on American territory. Jesus thought it was important to point out that this was not entirely true because the land was rightfully the Mexicans and they truly believed they were just defending their land. It was important to him to tell how the Mexicans were not just attacking American soldiers in cold blood. Even though there was a peace treaty wrote up before the fighting began Mexico did not consider it much of a compromise. They would lose all of Texas, Oregon and California. From the Mexican view point it looked like that had no choice but to fight the matter out. If they did not stand up for themselves they would look like a weak country. It seemed to them that the Americans were not treating them fairly. So, they started taking action. Which ended in an all out war. Marquez wrote his article with many valid points concerning the war and the Mexican viewpoint. I believe that it was a little hard to understand. Although it did have all the points well organized. One thing that Jesus thought was important to learn from his article was Mexico was simply defending its national security. Also he thought it was important to let the reader know that Mexico was not being arrogant, just responding to the American governments actions. He wanted others to know that the Mexican government was somewhat unstable at the time. If any leader tried to come to an agreement with the Americans and someone else didn’t like that decision that person would be overthrown. â€Å"Most people in Mexico believed the use of arms was the only option available to defend their rights and territorial integrity. † I think that this is an important quote from the text. It shows the view of most Mexicans at the time. They were not being irresponsible by fighting but just standing up for what they believed was right. In the American Pageant the Mexican-American War is mentioned in chapter 17. One subtitle is Misunderstandings with Mexico; the war is described as a result of the president’s want for manifest destiny. Conclusion Before reading Jesus Velasco-Marquez article I knew nothing of the Mexican-American War. After reading the article I am much more informed about the war in general. Strindbergs Miss Julie and Becketts Waiting for Godot Essay The motivations and behavior of key characters in Strindbergs Miss Julie and Becketts Waiting for Godot will be analyzed according to Eric Bernes method of transactional analysis. Eric Berne deals with the psychology behind our transactions. Transactional analysis determines which ego state is implemented by the people interacting. There are three possibilities which are either parent, adult, or child. The key characters in Waiting for Godot are Vladimir and Estragon. Vladimir is the more intellectual of the two and Estragon is more emotional. Their ego states are always shifting from minute to minute. In Miss Julie the key characters are Jean and Miss Julie. Jean shifts his ego state according to his situation either to compliment the ego state of the person he is talking to or to exploit the situation. In the relationship between Miss Julie and Jean their ego states interchange as Miss Julie begins as the parent, then she falls so they are equal on the adult level and eventually she is on the bottom so Jean is on the top as parent ego state. People are made with three basic ego states which are the parent, adult, and child. Some people have a dominant ego state and others are constantly changing. If the lines of communication in the transaction are crossed, the communication will cease unless one of the participants alters their ego state to compliment the ego state implemented by the other communicant. Ulterior transactions are more complex and more than one ego stat is involved at one time by a participant. An ulterior transaction can be used to take advantage of a vulnerable ego state in someone else. An example is a car salesman sees a middle aged family man that appears to be having some sort of a midlife crisis. The car salesman shows him an expensive sports car and says young people love these flashy cars, but you look like more of a Lincon town car type. The middle aged man then turns around and buys the expensive sports car. The salesmans comments were both objective observations that were made by the adult. They could be received by either the adult or child of the middle aged man. If received by the adult it would steer the middle aged man to a car that would be more appropriate and practical for him and his family. Instead it is received by the child which in this case is dominant and vulnerable and causes the man to think Im still young this is as much a car for me as it is for anyone. In Waiting for Godot Estragon and Vladimir converse on all levels with each other. Through the play they are killing time while waiting for Godot. Estragon realizes that their existence is stagnant and he has trouble remembering things because of the repetition. In the second act he does not recall what happened in the first act. For him, remembering the day before would be like trying to remember a specific rain drop in a rain storm. Godot, the unseen character represents a hope of change that is to come. Their meeting with him is always delayed which defers their hope, but does not extinguish it because they agree to meet him again the next day. At some points they play with each other, this is an effective way to kill time. An example of them playing is when they are wondering what to do while waiting for Godot, Estragon comes up with the idea of hanging themselves. Throughout the play whenever the Count is mentioned Jean shrivels up with fear and is in the child ego state. Miss Julie, the counts daughter is originally is in a position of authority over Jean because he is a servant in her house. Through the course of the story a reversal of roles is seen. It starts with Jean being in the child ego state while talking to Miss Julie to compliment the parent ego state that she talks to him from. Miss Julie was a very passionate woman and often would grab one of her servants to dance with. A combination of factors brought Jean and Miss Julie together. Some of these factors are being in the right place at the right time, her fiancÃÆ'Â © breaking off their engagement, her hormones and the atmosphere of a midsummer night. Once Jean has been with Miss Julie for a while he plays games with her to make her want to get with him. He does this after she was teasing him sexually but would not let him kiss her. He senses a strong romantic child in her and he exploits this by telling her a story he made up about him seeing her from across the gate to the estate and he desired to be with her. He said that he slept under an elder bush because he had remembered it could be fatal but he did not die, he only became very ill. He said he did this because he realized because of their class difference he could never have her, and she was a symbol of hopelessness of him ever climbing up from his low class. This story evokes sympathy and triggers her child which wants to rebel against the established order that says they can never get together. This strategy works as Jean ends up sleeping with Miss Julie. In their relationship the tides turn from Miss Julie being the parent to them being equal to Jean being the parent. She starts out thinking she is better than Jean because he is her servant. As they get closer she feels he is her equal so she talks to him as an adult from an adult standpoint. By the end when she has fallen from grace she feels so low that she is talking up to Jean and wants him to tell her what to do. History of Private Investigators in the US Private Security is a corporate business that provide armed and unarmed security services and expertise to public and private security companies. They provide patrolling, surveillance, and protection services for a fee. These services involve, but not limited to, security guards, watch dogs, security monitors, and parking security. Allan Pinkerton, Francois Vidocq, and Jay J Armes paved the way for modern day private security through their investigative techniques, tools, and services that are still either in used or influenced in todays private security sector. Detective Allen Pinkerton first opened up the Pinkerton National Detective Agency in 1849. The Pinkerton agency patrolled the Wild West, stopped bank robberies, counterfeiters, and any crime clients paid or they seem deemed to stop, researched by Bond (2015). Allen Pinkerton and his agency became respected by many, including President Abraham Lincoln where he saved him from an assassination attempt plot on his way to inauguration as President during The American Civil War between 1861-1862. In addition, Pinkerton also created two techniques still in use by intelligence agencies today called Shadowing and assuming a role. Shadowing involve conducting surveillance of a known target or location and recording everything so that a theme emerges from the analysis; and assuming a role which is undercover work where the detective blends into the environment and infiltrates the criminal enterprise, pretending to be a member to gather insider information to stop and prosecute criminal activiti es, researched by Bond (2015).
